  • hold the right visa or an NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority).
  • Australian and New Zealand citizens do not need a visa or an NZeTA.

Do you need a visa or an NZeTA?

  • You do not need a visa or permit to visit New Zealand if you are a New Zealand/Australia citizen or Resident Permit holder.
  • If you are visiting from Japan you require a NZeTA.
  • If you are visiting on a passport from a visa waiver country you must hold an NZeTA. Click here to view a list of visa waiver countries and territories.
  • If you are visiting on a passport from a country not listed on the visa waiver countries and territories list, you must apply for a visa. The Immigration NZ website advises that If you are attending a conference in New Zealand, the business visitor visa is generally appropriate. You should include the conference invitation to support the application or carry this with you if eligible for visa waiver travel.
